Another of the time honoured races in Sydney and in fact, in various forms, it dates back to 1851 rather incredibly. It was first run as the AJC Queen's Plate but has been known variously as the AJC Plate, Queen's Plate, King's Cup and a few other names. Since 1954 it has been known as the Queen Elizabeth, and in that format it has been won three times by both Tulloch and Winx which underlines the class of the winners.

This year sees a small but fairly strong field but it really comes down to two main chances in my view. Last year's winner Addeybb is up against Verry Elleegant who is probably Australia's best horse at this point. I think that the dosages of past winners comes down on the side of last year's winner Adeybb but I doubt if there is much value there. I think we can just enjoy watching some remarkable horses.
