The Magic Millions 2yo race is certainly a feature of racing this time of year, although I am not sure that the quality of the field is often all that strong. If we look at the field, there is no real standout favourite which is a little unusual. Let's look at the dosages to see if we can get close to a winner.

Seven of the last 10 winners have had a dosage index between 4.43 and 5.40 and this range is probably where we should be looking again this year. Starting from the top of the field, we see Wisdom Of Water not far from this range. Next we see Kavak in this range, followed by Dusty Tycoon and Lady Banff. I have been a big fan of Lady Banff, and I don't think her last run did her any harm. She will be up with the leaders most likely, and I am sure will run well.

We saw one winner with a DI of 3.38 so if you like the top two, King's Legacy and Farnan, then you can probably back them knowing that they are close in type to a past winner. Rathlin and favourite Aim fit between these two ranges, and it would be hard to suggest that a winner with his profile could not win. Nevetheless, their profiles probably don't look quite right so I would certainly be looking elsewhere.

We also saw winners with dosages of 10.5 and 11.0 so The Drinks Cart could be worth watching if he gets a run. If you like Every Rose then she is certainly bred with lots of speed lines, so could spring an upset.

For me, I am sticking to the first four I mentioned all at good odds. One further point though. If you look at the dosages of these runners, and you are thinking of buying a horse at the sale, then I suggest you buy one that has a dosage profile in these fairly narrow ranges.
