Pacemakers a blight on Racing

Frankel's wonderful career came to a close in the Champion Stakes at Ascot.  For me, it was a disappointment to see the jockey on Bullet Train manipulate the race.  He clearly disadvantaged the performance of the runner up in the race, as well as giving his own mount no chance in the race.  Not only does it detract from the performance of Frankel, but it detracts from the image of racing in my view to see a jockey spend half of the race concerned solely where other horses are in the run.  Any Australian betting on the race should be informed that the jockey on a pacemaker has no intention of giving their horse an opportunity to win the race, and it should be excluded from the betting.  The image of racing is critical for confidence in the industry, and the use of pacemakers should be stopped if the industry is to prosper throughout the world.
