Today we are in Sydney and our Pedigree of the Day is in the Silver Shadow for 3yo fillies. It looks a pretty decent field, but one of the most expensive youngsters running is Killcareless. By More Than Ready out of the Fusaichi Pegasus mare, Climatic, she was a $250,000 purchase who races in the colours of Strawberry Hill Stud. More Than Ready has been a well performed sire, producing horses like Sebring and More Joyous. He is a US bred horse, by Southern Halo out of a Woodman mare.
The dam of Killcareless is Climatic, by another US sire in Fusaichi Pegasus, in turn out of a Danehill mare in Monsoon Wedding. Monsoon Wedding was stakes placed in the Magic Night, but she is best known as a full sister to Redoute’s Choice. This means her third dam is Shantha’s Choice by Canny Lad, and as well as tailing back to the wonderful Best In Show family, it also means she is related to horses like Manhattan Rain, Umatilla, Hurricane Sky and a host of others.
With such a star studded pedigree, one would imagine that she will be a top line racehorse. Unfortunately we see her pedigree very heavily inbred featuring crosses of Halo, Mr Prospector, Northern Dancer, and Natalma to name but a few duplications we see in six generations. We feel that there is no direct focus in the pedigree, and suggest that she is a high risk proposition. In terms of dosage, we see that her profile reads [1.12/6.00] [17-13-12-0-0] which indicates that she probably won’t be looking for too much further than today’s 1200m. In spite of her commercial appeal, we are happy to look to other runners if we are trying to find a winner today.
