A rather unique race, but the Cox Plate is certainly one of our great racing spectacles. Who can forget past winners like Kingston Town and Winx, and if you add horses like Makybe Diva and Octagonal to the Honour Roll, then you know it is a special race. Even though there are only ten starters this year, it looks an intriguing race. We have seen past winners come from a range of dosage profiles, but essentially a few key ones. Firstly we have winners with a DI around 1.00 which doesn't really fit this year although Dalasan could be an interesting runner with the lowest profile in the race. We do have Very Elleegant at 1.21 and we have seen a recent winner in this range so she certainly must be considered a strong chance. Next we see a number of winners around 1.50 which sees Zaaki fit quite nicely. Next we see winners around 2.00 which brings in particularly Anamoe and Probabeel. We see very few 3yo's win the race but the more recent winners of that age have all had a DI under 1.00. While I am a huge fan of Anamoe, and would love to see him win, I just don't think this is the year for him. We also should not rule out the French horse Gold Trip who is not far away. Basically though a case can be made for any of the big three in Zaaki, Verry Ellegant and Anamoe, but I am probably leaning towards Very Elleegant. Gold Trip and Probabeel are two at good odds that you can have a look at for the multiples.
